Venue Information
Althing 2026 will be held on a public park in the Surrey area of the Lower Mainland. The address will only be provided to confirmed, paid attendees in the weeks leading up to the event.
The park is a large field, with a covered picnic shelter, a fire pit, and pit toilets. There are only gravel or dirt paths available on site. There is a publicly accessible path passing by the site through the trees, but we will have signage at all site entrances indicating Althing is a private event.
No electricity/generators will be available for CPAPs etc., but drinking water will be available on site.
Cellphone coverage at the site is reasonably good. The site is also relatively close to transit, with the nearest bus stop a 15-20 minute walk away.
If you have any accessibility/medical concerns, please email us for a discussion regarding options.
Children & Pets
Children and adolescents are welcome at Althing. Children are defined as humans under the age of 12 years old and must be supervised by responsible adults at all times. Teenagers between ages 13-18 years are OK to be unsupervised (at parents’ discretion), but their parents/guardians still need to be on site.
Dogs are permitted on site, but must be supervised by their owners. Owners are responsible for picking up their dog’s waste as needed. Any dogs brought to Althing should be properly socialized for interaction with other dogs and small humans.
Owners of small dogs should be aware there are owls, and other predators in the vicinity, so you should stay watchful. Dogs should be vaccinated and preventatively treated for fleas/ticks, as a precaution.
Wild Animals
There may be coyotes, rodents and other wildlife in the area. While the risk is minimal, please keep yourself, small humans and dogs safe. Please do not force any interactions with wildlife. Food supplies should be kept in a sealed cooler or similar container.
Smoking & Alcohol
Smoking is OK. Separate smoking areas will be designated for tobacco and cannabis. Please do not smoke outside of designated smoking areas, to prevent risk of fire.
Do NOT give any smoking or alcohol products to minors.
Alcohol is not permitted on the site.
Recycling and trash bins are available, but capacity is limited. Please pack out any extra trash with you if the bins are full by the end of Althing.
Dress code on the property is as follows: No full nudity during the day, but going topless is OK, as per B.C. law.
Fires
A fire pit is available, but current fire restrictions prevent lighting of wood fires. We may have propane fire stands available in lieu of a “proper” fire. No individual fires are permitted, other than propane-only camp stoves for cooking your own meals.
Current fire ban information will also be posted on site.
Covid & Sickness Policy
All attendees must be vaccinated against Covid-19, unless there is a valid medical reason for non-vaccination.
If you are feeling sick or showing symptoms of a communicable illness – Covid or otherwise – please don’t come to the event. Full or partial refunds may be possible, depending on how far in advance you give notice.
Food
A feast dinner will be provided to all attendees (both weekenders and day-trippers) on Saturday night, but otherwise it’s DIY for all other meals. You will need to bring your own food and cooking infrastructure for the weekend.
Food sensitivities will be accounted for in the feast, including gluten-free and vegan. Let us know the details when filling out your Registration Form.
Schedule
We are currently setting up an event schedule for Althing 2026. Please note all events would be subject to change.
If you are interested in offering a workshop or event at Althing 2026, please indicate as such on the Registration Form.
Altars
Altars will be set up for the following deities: Odin, Thor, Loki, Freya, Ran, Eostre, Hel, Skadi, Nerthus, Tyr, Weyland the Smith, Njord, Ingvi-Frey and Frigga.
You are encouraged to bring offerings and/or altar items to any of the aforementioned deities.
Offerings and altar items for other Heathen deities are welcome also.
